एक गाँव में एक सुखी परिवार रहता था। उस परिवार में तीन भाई ओर एक बहन थी। उनके माँ बाप उन चारो से बहुत प्यार करते थे। मगर बीच वाले बेटे से थोड़ा परेशान थे। क्योंकि बड़ा बेटा पढ़ लिखकर डाक्टर बन गया। 

ओर छोटा बेटा भी पढ़ लिखकर इंजीनियर बन गया था। मगर उनका बीच वाला बेटा एकदम गवार ओर आवारा बनकर ही रह गया। अब उनके दो बेटे डॉक्टर और इंजीनियर ने शादी भी कर ली थी।

इसलिए उसे शादी के लिए कोई भी लड़की नहीं मिल रही थी। ओर उसके माँ बाप उससे बहुत परेशान हो चुके थे। अब जब भी उस गवाँर की बहन अपने मायके आती थी तो पहले वो अपने डॉक्टर ओर इंजीनियर भाई से मिलती थी। 

मगर बीच वाले भाई से वो बहुत कम मिलती थी। क्योंकि वो उसे बहुत ज्यादा पैसा नहीं दे पाता था। लेकिन फिर भी वह अपनी बहन से बहुत प्यार करता था। अब उनके पिताजी की बीच वाले बेटे की शादी किये बिना ही मृत्यु हो गयी। 

उसकी माँ ने सोचा कहीं अब किसी के मुँह से बॅटवारे की बात न निकल जाये इसलिए अपने ही गाँव की एक सीधी साधी लड़की से अपने गवाँर बेटे की शादी करवा दी। शादी होते ही न जाने क्या हुआ ?

अब उसका अनपढ़ बेटा बहुत मन लगाकर काम करने लगा। अब जब भी उसका कोई दोस्त उसको बुलाने आता तो वो उसे कह देता कि भाई पहले तो मैं किसी भी तरह अकेला कमा कर खा लेता था। 

मगर अब मेरी शादी हो गयी है, इसलिए अब मुझे अपनी पत्नी के लिए भी कमाना पड़ता है। ओर कल को आने वाले बच्चो के लिए भी तो कुछ जोड़ना पड़ेगा। इसलिए दोस्त अब मैं तुम्हारे साथ नहीं घूम सकता। 

यह कह कर उसका गवाँर लड़का सीधा अपने काम पर निकल जाता है। अब उसके दोनों भाई डॉक्टर ओर इंजीनियर आपस में ये बात करते है कि हम दोनों तो उस गवाँर से कहीं ज्यादा पैसे कमाते है। इसलिए हम सब घर ओर जमीन का बटवारा कर लेते है। 

ओर उस गवाँर से अलग हो जाते है। क्योंकि अब वो हमारे बराबर कभी भी नहीं कमा सकता। इसलिए उन दोनों भाइयो ने अपनी माँ के लाख मना करने के बाद भी बॅटवारे की तारीख तय कर दी। 

ओर उन्होंने अपनी बहन को भी बुलवा लिया। ओर अपने गवाँर भाई से भी कह दिया कि आज तुम अपने काम पर मत जाना क्योंकि हम सब आज घर ओर जमीन का बटवारा करेंगे। उसी वक्त उसकी बहन भी आ जाती है। 

तभी उसका गवाँर भाई कहता है कि तुम लोग बटवारा कर लो, आप मुझे जो भी देना चाहते हो दे देना। मैं शाम को आकर अँगूठा लगा दूँगा। तभी उसकी बहन कहती है। अरे बेवकूफ तू तो अनपढ़ ही रहेगा। जमीन का हिस्सा तो आमने सामने बैठकर ही होता है। 

तभी उसके दोनों भाई बीच वाले भाई को उल्टा सीधा कहते है। तब उसकी माँ भी उसे कहती है कि बेटा आज तू काम पर मत जा। बँटवारा तेरे सामने होगा, तो ही अच्छा है। 

उसी वक्त वकील भी आ जाता है। तभी वकील कहता है की आपका सारा हिस्सा मिलाकर 10 बीघा जमीन है। ओर आपका घर है। अब ये बताओ कि किसको कितना हिस्सा देना है। मैं उसी हिसाब से बँटवारे के कागज बना दुँगा। 

उसी वक्त उनका गवाँर भाई कहता है कि वकील साहब 5-5 बीघा मेरे दोनों भाइयों के नाम लिख दो। ओर ये जो हमारा मकान है, ये मेरी प्यारी बहन के नाम कर दो। तभी उसके दोनों भाई और बहन पूछते है। 

कि ओर तू हिस्से में क्या लेगा। तभी उनका गवाँर भाई कहता है कि मेरे हिस्से में मेरी प्यारी माँ है। ओर तभी वह अपनी पत्नी की तरफ मुस्कुराते हुए कहता है कि क्यों मेरी प्यारी पत्नी क्या मैंने गलत कहा क्या ?

तभी बहन अपने गवाँर भाई को गले लगाकर रोते हुए कहती है कि माफ़ कर दो भैया मैं आपको समझ नहीं सकी। तभी उसका भाई कहता है कि मेरी प्यारी बहन इस घर में जितना अधिकार हमारा है, उतना ही अधिकार तेरा भी है। 

ओर रही बात बँटवारे की, तो बँटवारा नहीं करने से हमारा जीवन रूक तो नहीं जायेगा। क्यों करते है हम बँटवारा, क्या हम एक साथ मिलकर नहीं रह सकते ? जैसे हम बचपन में मिलकर रहते थे। 

एक साथ मिलकर रहने को ही तो एक अच्छा परिवार कहते है। ओर उस अच्छे परिवार को संभालती है एक माँ ! तभी उसके दोनों भाई भी बहुत शर्मिन्दा होते है। ओर वह दोनों बँटवारे के सभी कागज फाड़कर फेंक देते है। 

ओर उस दिन के बाद से ही उनका पूरा परिवार ख़ुशी ख़ुशी एक साथ रहने लगा। तो दोस्तों ये थी "परिवार ओर माँ" की एक सच्ची कहानी।
