एक गाँव में एक व्यक्ति के पास 19 ऊँट थे। एक दिन उस व्यक्ति की मृत्यु हो गयी। उसकी मृत्यु के बाद उसकी लिखी हुई सारी वसीयत पढ़ी गयी। जिसमे लिखा था की मेरे 19 ऊँटो में से आधे ऊँट मेरे बेटे को दिये जाएँ। 

और 19 ऊँटो में से एक चौथाई मेरी बेटी को दिए जाएँ। व् उन्ही 19 ऊँटों में से पांचवा हिस्सा मेरे नौकर को भी दिया जाएँ। इस बटवारे को सुनकर गाँव के सभी लोग चककर में पड़ गए कि ये बटवारा कैसे होगा ?

19 ऊँटों का आधा हिस्सा करने का मतलब एक ऊँट को काटना पड़ेगा। फिर तो ऊँट ही मर जायेगा। और चलो एक ऊँट को काट भी दिया जाये तो बचे 18 ऊँट तो उनका एक चौथाई साढ़े चार यानि फिर दो ऊँटो को काटना पड़ेगा ? यह बात सोचकर गाँव के सभी लोग बहुत उलझन में थे। 

फिर पड़ोस के गाँव से एक बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति को बुलवाया गया। वह बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति अपने ऊँट पर चढ़कर आया। उस वयक्ति ने गाँव वालो की सारी समस्या सुनी। फिर उस व्यक्ति ने थोड़ा दिमाग लगाया और बोला इन 19 ऊँटो में मेरा 1 ऊँट को भी मिला दो और फिर वसीयत के अनुसार इन ऊँटो का बटवारा कर दो। 

गाँव के सब लोगो ने सोचा कि एक तो मरने वाला पागल था, जो ऐसी वसीयत लिखकर चला गया। और अब ये दूसरा पागल आ गया।  जो बोलता है कि उन सभी ऊँटो में मेरा भी ऊँट मिला दो और वसीयत के अनुसार बटवारा कर दो।  फिर भी गाँव के सभी लोगो ने सोचा कि इसकी मर्जी इसमें हमें क्या हर्ज है। 

फिर बुद्धिमान वयक्ति ने बटवारा करना शुरू कर दिया। 19  + 1 = 20 हुए, 20 का आधा 10 उसके बेटे को दे दिए जाएं। और 20 का चौथाई हिस्सा हुआ 5, इसलिए 5 ऊँट उसकी बेटी को दे दिए जाएं। 

और 20 का पाँचवा हिस्सा 4 हुआ , इसलिए 4 ऊँट उसके नौकर को दे दिए जाएं। तो कुल मिलाकर 10 + 5 + 4 = 19 ऊँटो का बटवारा हो गया। अब बचा 1 ऊँट, जो उस बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति का था। वह व्यक्ति उस ऊँट को लेकर अपने गाँव लौट गया। 

इस तरह एक ऊँट मिलाने से, बाकी 19 ऊँटो का बटवारा सुख, शांति, संतोष व् आनंद के साथ हो गया।
